Welcome to Wordsworth Cottage
- a spacious and luxuriously appointed
17th Century cottage in the heart of
the Lake District. Offering newly
renovated, charaterful accommodation
with all of the essential elements for
a Lake District holiday cottage: a woodburner,
lots of beams, an Aga,
oak floors, antique furniture ... mixed
with contemporary bathrooms,
sumptuous soft furnishings and a beautiful
garden.
The cottage has an idyllic location
on the outskirts of Patterdale - a picturesque
Lake District village on the shores
of Ullswater. Once owned by William
Wordsworth, the cottage dates
back to 1670.
The famous Ullswater Steamers
operate between Glenridding Pier and
Pooley Bridge, and attractions such
as Dalemain House,
Aira Force arboretum
and falls, the Kirkstone Pass
and Rheged are within
a short drive.... and of course fabulous
scenery is all around! There are lots
of activities close by: cycling, walking,
horse riding, country
pursuits and outdoor adventures
are all available locally.
Patterdale is a popular base for touring,
being in the central Lakes, with popular
centres such as: Penrith, Keswick,
Windermere and Ambleside -
all being within a 30 minute drive.
For walkers, Helvellyn
is close by, and the cottage is nestled
under Place Fell, which
gives access to the High Street
Range, there
is great walking from the front door
and routes for all abilities. You can
also follow in the footsteps of Alfred
Wainwright– at least
3 of his walks pass through the village.
If you're looking for a smaller property,
you could consider Wordsworth Barn -
a stylish and contemporary conversion
for 2 people adjacent to Wordsworth
Cottage. www.wordsworthbarn-ullswater.co.uk
